1.5 MWh electricity storage cluster with smart integration into existing photovoltaic systems

Three Sources of Revenue with a Single Energy Storage System

An industrial company in northern Germany decided to optimize its energy supply for cost efficiency. The starting point was an existing photovoltaic system. It soon became clear that intelligent energy storage management and the use of dynamic electricity rates offered even greater potential.

A particular advantage lies in the active use of dynamic electricity rates.
The M-TEC energy management system automatically identifies cost-effective time windows, charges the storage units in a targeted manner, and thereby significantly reduces energy costs. At the same time, it ensures a reliable supply.

In addition, the smart energy storage system is used to optimize self-consumption and to smooth out peak loads.

What began as a single energy storage unit has evolved into a scalable system with a storage capacity of 1 MWh today. It was implemented using four Energy ROCK outdoor energy storage units, which are intelligently networked via the M-TEC EMS cluster.
The storage units are compatible with existing third-party inverters and are fully integrated into the facility’s energy infrastructure.

Today, our energy flows more intelligently than ever before. Our energy management system takes advantage of off-peak electricity rates, automatically charges the storage units, and thus significantly reduces our energy costs. With the M-TEC system, we are independent, flexible, and well-prepared for the future.

Added Value for the Customer

In collaboration with our technical partner SKA Technik, we developed a comprehensive modular solution.

Technical Implementation

By combining photovoltaics, energy storage systems, and smart energy management, this project demonstrates how companies can achieve both cost-effectiveness and energy self-sufficiency. The project was implemented by the M-TEC’s C&I expert team in collaboration with SKA Technik.
