M-TEC launches propane heat pump with up to 26 kW heating capacity, suitable for indoor installation and containing less than 150 g of refrigerant
A modular system for geothermal energy, groundwater, PVT and air
With the introduction of its propane heat pumps with up to 26 kW heating capacity for installation inside buildings, M-TEC is setting a new standard in heating technology. The heat pump is modularly configurable and remains below the safety-relevant 150 g refrigerant limit for propane in all variants.
The solution is based on an innovative stacking concept that connects several heat pump modules with each other, thereby reducing the refrigerant propane R290. A total heating capacity of up to 26 kW can be achieved. Available for the heat sources earth, water, PVT and air.
Simply connect and you're done: our individually configurable heat pump modules require neither special ventilation concepts nor gas detectors, as they always remain below the safety-relevant refrigerant limit specified in the applicable standards.

Configurable concept in modules
Whether for single-family homes, multi-storey residential buildings or office buildings, whether for new construction or renovation: the modular concept allows flexible configuration for a wide range of requirements. Up to four heat pump units with an output of 6.5 kW each can be combined in a vertical modular system, which can be cascaded three times to achieve an output of up to 78 kW.
The central control system regulates the cooling circuits, heat sources and heating circuits, among other things. An 8.8 kW electric heating element for peak loads, redundancy and fast heating phases is already integrated. Depending on customer requirements, active or passive cooling (i.e. without heat pump operation) is possible. For high draw-off rates, M-TEC offers an optional 200-litre hot water tank.
Available to order from the end of Q1. Available from Q2 2026
Integrated source management
M-TEC has developed and optimised the heat pump system for geothermal energy, groundwater, PVT modules and air. Active source management allows the combination of several heat sources such as deep boreholes, geothermal baskets, ice storage, air evaporators and PVT collectors. An integrated PVT mixer enables source temperatures of up to – 25 °C and + 80 °C.
Intelligent energy management
The new heat pump can be integrated into both M-TEC’s E-Smart energy management system and third-party systems. E-Smart provides a complete energy solution that integrates photovoltaics, battery storage and charging stations. Control in accordance with Section 14a, variable electricity tariffs, self-consumption optimisation and much more can be installed with ease.
The modules can be combined as required
Heat pump module with 6.5 kW (HPM): Inverter-controlled unit (2–6.5 kW) with R290, speed-controlled brine and heating circulation pumps, expansion vessel (12 l), optionally with active cooling.
Control and hydraulics module (OTM): AP440 heat pump control with IM105/IM110 expansion module, 8.8 kW electric heating element, safety thermostat, hot water changeover valve, connection piping to the top or rear (light version) and optional PVT mixer
Passive cooling module (PCM): Heat exchanger with changeover valve for cooling without compressor operation.
Boiler module (DHWM): 200 l hot water tank with integrated heat pump central control
