HAUNOLDING ENERGY COMMUNITY
Decentralised community solution with PV, battery storage and hydrogen for maximum utilisation of regional energy
The Haunolding energy community in Gampern (Upper Austria) connects 30 households and four photovoltaic systems to form an intelligent and future-oriented energy solution. At the heart of the system is the M-TEC energy management system, which records and intelligently controls the production and consumption of all participants in real time. Surplus energy is either stored in a 30 kWh electricity storage unit from M-TEC or, if there is a further surplus, in green hydrogen. The aim is to maximise self-consumption, avoid fossil fuels and make optimal use of local energy together.
- More independence – self-generated electricity for 30 participants with four PV systems
- Cut costs – store surplus energy locally and use it where you need it
- Increasing sustainability – intelligent use of battery storage and hydrogen
Our solution: Integrated M-TEC energy management
- Photovoltaic output: Four PV systems with a total of 35 kWp
- Battery storage: 30 kWh M-TEC Energy Butler for using surplus PV energy
- Energy management: Central control with automated storage control
- Power-to-gas: Surplus energy is stored in a hydrogen demonstration plant
Sector coupling and model character with system intelligence from M-TEC
- Live data and storage control as a demonstration project within the Climate and Energy Model Region Vöckla-Ager
- Future-proof thanks to intelligent connection, storage integration and open system architecture
- The Haunolding Energy Community was awarded the Upper Austrian State Prize for Environment and Sustainability in 2024.
With the M-TEC energy management system, energy communities such as Haunolding can embark on a decentralised energy future in a collaborative, sustainable and highly efficient manner.
